We all know the fight that ensued Obama to this point in the campaign, we’re all elated at the fact that there is a “real” possibility that we are about to witness History with the electing of our nations first black president. I have to tell you, all the people I speak to are so excited about this campaign, more so than any other in history. Funny….I was talking to my Dad (which I don’t do as often as I should), and my Dad is from the old rural South. In his lifetime, he has seen and experienced racism I could not fathom, nor would want to. The stories at times can be riveting. Anyhoo….we were discussing the election, and my Dad with his southern “drawl” said “Baby, this is a historical event…you make sure you get out and vote, ya hear?” And although I did not see him, I could really feel his emotion over the telephone. I plan on voting democratically, and always have. However, I can not say I am a fan of politics as a whole. Some politicians will say whatever it is to get you to vote for them, they know how to get you. When they get elected to office it’s another story. Okay, okay, I have to get to the subject of this thought……
If Obama is elected President of the United States (and I certainly hope he is), he has to clean up the awful mess that Bush made. Obama will have to roll up his sleeves and literally clean up the economy, the war on Iraq, healthcare, education, social security, TAXES and a host of other issues that will affect our nation. People, we have to stand strong and allow this man time to try and handle and fix these issues, and four years will not be enough. Let’s give him 8 years like the Clinton’s had and see what happens. We can’t give up if within four years everything is not the way it should be….it goes without saying that we have to give him time. It took way more than four years to mess things up the way they are so how would ANYBODY expect to come into office and clean up this mess in that amount of time. More than half the country is in a recession and NY is very close to it. People will be losing jobs, and more homes will be in foreclosure. As awful as this is, please stand strong for Obama…he will need our strength, patience, support and blessings…
Talk to me….

Good Job D!!
Well written Denise. I'm thrilled for the change and I look forward to saluting Obama. Most of all, I am grateful that I am here to witness this exciting time. Sure there will be challenges along the way, and he will conquer them at best. I truly believe that Obama is covered with many blessings.
7 days to go!

What timing to post this topic. I have never seen as much interest in the Political process as I am witnessing today. Obama has sparked the nation on both sides of the Political Landscape to action. Those that are violently opposed and those that impatiently hopeful. I too am excited to witness and be part of history in the making. Obama has already been tested and will continue to be tested throughout what I sincerely believe will be his 1st term as our new President. I'm sure Obama is approaching his challenges and adversities as character tests in disguise and when the dust settles he will have passed this test with the highest grade available...President.
Wonderful!!! I'm so proud that you started your own blog...Love ya!

Great Job Denise,
This is a very important time in history, we all must go out and vote, this race is not over ....remember what happened in Florida.......I think Sam Cooke said it best ..."A Change gonna come" !!!!

Obama definitely needs time and we have to have patience because they will nail him to the wall. We also pray for his safety because there are too many ignorant people out there.
I totally agree with you! We have to have patience...things will not change over night. Great post. I'm so happy you started a blog.
xoxo,
Ally
Great commentary Girl! This is really a very important time in His-Story.
Vinnette..
Congratulations on your blog.
It is a must that we give Barack time to put his policies in place. Many of them may not be completely in play "should" he win even if he is re-elected in '012. It has taken us 8 years to go from having a budget surplus of 500 billion (God bless, a cigar lovin' Bill Clinton) to having nearly a trillion dollar deficit 8 years later, under the current administration.(How many friggin' zeros is that anyway??) So things won't change overnight, this is clear. An Obama victory will also allow us to seriously mend fences with our allies overseas, and in the midddle east. Most people from overseas have taken a dim view of America, and it's because of George Bush. We can thank his shoot from the lip, aww shucks quasi cowboy rhetoric for our foreign policy problems. The worst part? we americans look like fools for electing him.
Unfortunately there are still some, who passively suggest that their vote won't count, and all politicians lie, etc, etc...... Let me tell you, just 50 short years ago in the south and some parts of the midwest, men and women were killed for daring to want to vote. Many were hung, some were shot, others lost their homes and loved ones. All because of a basic right to cast a ballot for the person of your choosing. I say, regardless of whether you believe in everything Barack Obama says, whether you will benenfit or not under his proposed tax plan, get out and VOTE!!
Let's honor the ancestors who died fighting for this right, cast this ballot for them, if not for yourself.
Barack Obama is running for you, he's running for me....He's running for President. Knock on some doors, make some phone calls, let's do all we can to put him in the oval office.
Great blog – I love it!! -- some excellent points for discussion. I am confident that if we show support at the polls for Mr. Obama, our hopes and dreams will be realized and history will be made loud and clear. Your blog page is really cool and your photo is cute. Speak out and speak up, and share your views and opinions with the world!
lionize him for taking a stand he is been tested since he stood up an he is still standing the force thats i know is above all is gonna keep him standing and we will stand with him also i look forward to racial equality in amefrica.god bless the world not just amefrica
Hey Denise, I'm actually one of those people who don't have much faith in the voting process BUT just in case I'm wrong, I've sent my absentee vote to VA, where I feel it could make a difference. It's good to hear or read from you!
Well done Denise! This country needs change and it couldn't have come at a better time. There will be obstacles in Obama's journey but he will prevail! Keep it going woman!
Tres Vogue!
Congrats on one of many blogs to come big Sis. I like you see this as a big test for Obama, but also as a test for our country. The world is looking to see what we do. What we do on tuesday will determine our future as a power and a trend setter in the economical world. I am not voting for Obama because he is black, even though i give God glory for blessing me to be able to witness history in the making if it be his will. But because he looking to out for people like me and not the top 2 percent who are rich. He belives in taking care of home. Like he said share the wealth not tricle down, or should i say lower class get the crumbs economics. Like you i do not trust those in politics, alot of the times they are two faced (one face before elections, the opposite after being elected), but Obama is talking to the people that are middle class and poor. Those who have been just basically buried and left for dead by this current administration. Now the test of Obama will come many ways. The Republicans will be at every turn trying to derail everything he tries to do as that is politics, this is why we must not only get OBama in the white house , but get the voting majority as Democrats in the congress and senate. That way Obama can do what he needs to do and not have to fight tooth and nail, like Clinton had to. Just imagine what Clinton could have done especially in his second term with democratic majority in those two places. And this country did well in spite of. RACISM, yes it still exist. He will be judged and focused on more than any President in this country's history. He has to play a role that others never had to, and that is prove that he can and is able to be president on every executive decision, as a world leader, for every class of citizen, and every race. That is something that past Presidents never had to really face. Bush never really cared about the black vote when running for President very seldom did he attend Afro- American functions. He most likly thought i don't really need the black vote when i can get the hispanics vote, and for the most point i have the white vote that is a givin. As President well look at New Orleans during Kitrina compared to Indonesia during the tidal wave, both tragic . but the U.S seemed to be in Indonesia which is on the other side of the world with in days and well the ninth ward still looks like a bomb hit it and that is about a thousand miles from DC. Obama will have to be everything to everybody while past Presidents didn't have to. Can he do it? We will see. I think he will do well and that means we as a country will do well. Luv ya Sis.
